The City of Cambridge reminds you: be aware of deceptive electricity supply offers.
Many Cambridge residents (and in surrounding towns) have received deceptive and false advertisements through phone calls and letters asking them to switch their electricity supply. These competitive suppliers can drive up electricity bills through confusing and deceptive pricing with fees and high costs.
Protect your Eversource account number.
Eversource will NEVER knock on your door or call you to talk about your electricity bill. ONLY provide your Eversource account number if you are ready to change your electricity supplier and are fully aware of the costs and fees associated with the new supplier.
We recommend staying a part of the Cambridge Community Electricity program, with the most consumer protection built-in without any additional fees or costs. We will guide you through and answer any questions you have. To learn more click here: https://masspowerchoice.com/cambridge

Look out for:
Threats of immediate power disconnection or demands for payment
Even if you’re having trouble paying bills, your power will not be shut off. If anyone calls, emails, or visits your home or business regarding an outstanding payment and threatens to disconnect your power- it is not Eversource, it is a scammer. You can hang up the phone, delete the email, or shut the door.
Requests to pay with unusual payment methods
Eversource will never ask you to make a payment with a gift card, prepaid debit card, or bitcoin.
You can safely make your payment online at Eversource.com, via the Eversource mobile app, by contacting Eversource’s Customer Service team or by mail.
