Multifamily (5+ units) Audit

There are several options for multi-family buildings of five or more units.

  • CSG offers a preliminary scoping audit, and subsequent work specification reports on shared facilities and equipment as described in the next section.
  • Next Step Living will audit 5–49 units buildings, each for the same price as oil-heated units. See the Enhanced Audit page for service details.
  • For buildings with 50 or more units, measures typically address common equipment and facilities. Request an audit for additional details.

In buildings with tenants or condominium associations, CEA will work with landlords, building managers  and residents to find fair, practical ways to share the costs and the benefits of investing in more efficient heating, cooling, and lighting throughout the building.

Scoping Audit of 5–49 unit Buildings

For $350, payable in advance, a one hour site visit is conducted by Conservation Services Group (CSG). Centralized mechanical systems, water, electricity, gas and oil end uses are assessed for efficiency improvements. Key site personnel are interviewed at this time and areas of specific interest are explored for consideration in a package of measure upgrades that has the ability to pay for itself over time. Measures to be assessed include:

  • Common heating system
  • Common domestic hot water system
  • Common cooling system
  • Thermal boundary (exterior walls, roof/attic and floors)
  • Common area lighting
  • Water use- toilets, urinals, shower heads, sink aerators
  • Photovoltaics (solar electric)
  • Solar hot water

After the scoping audit, you will be presented with a checklist of measures that merit further study based upon the opportunities observed and/or the interest you have pursuing each specific opportunity. If desired, CSG can also supply you with a report to further inform your efficiency improvement decisions. This report is available at additional cost ($105/hour) which is based on the scope and breadth of the opportunities you wish to pursue. The Efficiency Potential Report will include measure descriptions, the expected cost to implement each measure and the simple payback period for each measure of interest.
